My name is Ana. I am an experienced English into Spanish translator specialising in Chemistry and related areas, and especially its intersection with Life Sciences.

I graduated in Chemistry from the University of Oviedo in 1990 and went on to do a PhD in Carbon Materials at INCAR-CSIC, the Spanish National Research Council. On completing that in 1994, I spent the following two years at Loughborough University of Technology (UK).

In parallel to my academic studies, I took part in several international conferences and joint projects, as well as co-authoring a number of articles published in scientific journals.

My career as a freelance translator in my specialist field began in 1998. I deepened my knowledge further in 2004 by obtaining a master’s degree in English to Spanish translation with UNED (Spain) and I am also a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (No. 25943).

Twenty years on, I have gathered rich and varied experience, translating/adapting materials that include: advertising copy, booklets and brochures, help files, labelling items, manuals, MSDS, patents, PILs, protocols and reports, scientific articles, SPCs, SW interfaces, training presentations, press releases, marketing bulletins and newsletters, web pages... in areas such as Carbon Materials, Chemistry, Clinical Analysis, Cosmetics, Environment, General Science, Pharmacology... I have also done Spanish media monitoring for international clients.
